I began my career with Discount Tire almost by coincidence. My good friend and teammate in my baseball league had recently joined the company and urged me to apply. I was still attending San Diego State University majoring in Physical Therapy and needed a part time job, so I thought why not? I really hadn't anticipated the friendly, supportive work environment that I found; it was quite different than anything I had experienced. That factor is very important to me. I can say that I feel like a member of the team, and I'm confident my day-to-day contribution will pay great dividends in the long run.

In less than a month I decided to change my career plans and join the company full time. After three years in San Diego I received three promotions. Then, I was offered the opportunity to help open our new region in North Carolina. My wife and I felt this would be a great place to raise our two children; and new regions can expand quickly and offer great opportunities as well. So we took the plunge. It's been a year since our move and we are very happy with our new home. I am doing very well with my new Discount Tire family, too.

I work with people from all over the country who have come here just like me. We'll be opening new stores within the next two months and many more are scheduled for next year. I'm working hard to be ready when my turn comes. I believe that I'm with a company that rewards excellent work with excellent opportunity... not just over the short term, but over the long term too. I think any person serious about starting a new career should give Discount Tire serious consideration.
