If winter tires are installed on the front of any vehicle, winter tires should also be installed on the rear. Without winter tires on the rear, vehicle handling can be adversely affected due to traction mismatch. This may result in the loss of vehicle control, which could cause serious injury.
For front wheel drive vehicles it is especially important that winter tires, with or without studs, should be mounted on all four positions.
For rear wheel drive vehicles it is acceptable to mount 2 winter tires on the rear axle only.
