I equipped my 2002 Miata with these 195/50-15 Sport Comp 2's and after 3,000 miles I am extremely pleased. They are quiet and the handling on dry pavement is outstanding. I drove a few times in the rain with no issues. I don't autocross, therefore I can't attest to their racing capability, but for street driving they are perfect.

Tire Pros

Fantastic grip when dry

Tire Cons

Slippery when wet, harsh ride as tread work.

Bought these tires to replace the OEM Michelin Pilot X's. For weekend driving on the twisties, these are fantastic. The car tracked like it was on rails. I have never had a tire that gripped this well. However when the slightest amount of rain hit the road, the car would hydroplane; on wet roads it almost felt like driving on ICE. I had researched these tires and knew that they were dry road tires, but did not realize they would be so 'exciting' on wet roads. For anyone who races their Miata, go for these tires! You won't be disappointed. For me, next set of tires I will look for something with more wet traction.

Tire Pros

Good balance, low noise, good corner traction

Tire Cons

Excellent service at the store! I asked the installer to pay special attention to the balance and making sure the tires were wheel mounted for perfect circle runout. Truing the tire to the wheel. They did this and we used less weight to balance the tires. These sports cars are noted for balance vibration and the tire and install were so good I pulled over to call the store and thank them for the extra effort! Now only time will tell, but first blush, I'm very pleased.

Tire Pros

Fantastic grip for acceleration and braking. Cornering is very nimble.

Tire Cons

A bit of lateral motion in the wet makes the tires feel nervous, but certainly controllable.

I previously ran a set of Kumho Ecsta AST tires for about 35,000 miles before buying the BF Goodrich tires. The Kumho tires were reasonably priced and gave decent dry traction, but were downright terrifying in the wet. My tire size does not have many options, so when Discount Tire recommended the BF Goodrich, I was rather willing to give them a try. They were absolutely a revelation compared to the Kumho's and well worth the extra money. Dry traction is rock solid and while wet weather road holding isn't exactly Michelin Pilot Sport quality, I'm not paying Michelin money either. Wear has been fairly consistent as I've only lost 3/32" of tread depth in 10,000 miles which leads me to believe I should see about 30,000 miles of use from these tires with my mixed city/highway driving. I would definitely buy another set when I've worn these out.
