I just returned from a weekend at a HPDE. On Friday I drove 295 miles to the track in the rain at interstate speeds. Saturday we ran the 3.1 mile track in conditions of 65 degrees and rain. Sunday the rain continued but the temperature was only 41 degrees. On the drive home it continued to rain and the temperatures ranged from 38 to 51 degrees. This was the first time I used these tires on the track simply because I knew it was going to rain and turn cold and I wanted to get an idea of their limits in a more controlled environment. In dry and warm conditions I track the OEM Goodyear F1 Supercars but I have never liked them in the wet or cold. I chose these tires for my 2012 Shelby GT500 because it is my daily driver. The Continental DWs performed flawlessly for me under some very adverse conditions. While others were spinning tires or going off track, I was able to spend my weekend practicing throttle control and focusing on learning the wet line around the track. I only had the rear break loose twice in 6 sessions as my instructor had me pushing to find the limits and just a slight roll off the throttle allowed me to straighten it out. My husband was so impressed we are ordering a set for his C5 Corvette. Hopefully this will help him stay on the track too when running in the wet and cold.
