Tire Price Guide – How Much Are Tires?

Tire price guide

One of the most common questions out there:

“How much are new tires going to cost?”

We understand that a new set of tires aren’t always baked into the average drivers’ budget. Moreover, the tire buying process can be a bit overwhelming, especially for first-time buyers.

That’s why we created Treadwell™, a tire-buying tool that helps you make an informed choice your vehicle’s unique make and model, as well as your driving habits and location.

General Tire Pricing

According to sources around the internet, the average cost of a full set of tires is around $600.

However, tire prices vary widely by size and intended use.

A typical all-season, 15-inch tire size (fits most sedan-size cars) tends to cost about half as much as its 20-inch pickup truck or SUV-sized counterpart. Similarly, more standard all-season tires typically cost less than specialized all-terrain, winter / snow, or performance tires of a similar size.

The following table outlines general costs for various sizes and types of tires.

Wheel Size

Winter / Snow

Small (12” - 15” wheels). Typically compact cars, golf carts, etc.

$80 - $150 (average cost per tire)

$100 - $150 (average cost per tire)

Medium (16” - 20” wheels). Typically fit crossovers, SUVs, small trucks, and vans.

$100 – $250 (average cost per tire)

$200 – $400 (average cost per tire)

$150 – $250 (average cost per tire)

$100 – $750 (varies greatly)

Large (18” - 26”). Primarily trucks, all-terrain, utility, and performance vehicles.

$140 – $170 (average cost per tire)

$200 – $500 (average cost per tire)

$200 – $1000

Despite the wide range of averages and estimations included above, there are many factors that go into the final cost of a set of tires.
