Our favorite tire sidewall designs
By: Discount Tire
There’s a subtle way to add a unique look and feel to your vehicle that a lot of enthusiasts don’t always pay attention to in the modification and customization process: the sidewall design of your tires.
When you think of a tire’s sidewall a lot of different things might go through your head. Measurements, technical specs, maybe even white or black lettering. But what about the visual design of the sidewall itself?
We put together a short list of some of our current favorite tire sidewall designs based on lettering and typeface choices, as well as the use of unique functional features that make them stand out.
Off-road tire sidewall designs
The sidewalls on off-road tires tend to have a more aggressive look, with wide blocks and patterns throughout the tire that give off the rugged look a lot of 4x4 enthusiasts and lifted truck drivers are after. The below make up our top-three picks.
BFGOODRICH MUD TERRAIN T/A KM3
The BFGoodrich KM3’s uniform sidewall pattern consists of wide and jagged blocks meant to eject mud and protect it from sharp rocks while giving any vehicle they go on a more menacing look.
TOYO OPEN COUNTRY A/T III
The Open Country A/T III tire’s pattern runs uniform throughout the tire and contains a slightly less blocky design than a mud-terrain.
NITTO RIDGE GRAPPLER
All Nitto Grappler off-road tires feature unique reversible tire sidewalls to suit your taste, but the Ridge Grappler is a particularly good-looking tire that makes it obvious what you use your vehicle for.
STREET TIRE SIDEWALL DESIGNS
All-season tires and performance tires are designed to perform in almost all weather conditions due to their sleek design. To highlight some noteworthy characteristics, here are some all-season and performance tires that incorporate these features into their sidewall design.
PIRELLI P ZERO AS PLUS ELECT
The Pirelli P Zero AS Plus Elect's design features the ELECT name with a subtle plug design, a clever nod to its electric vehicle–focused design.
NITTO NT420V
Street style built for pickups and SUVS, the Nitto NT420V features a subtle ‘V’ design encircling the tire’s sidewall and arrows pointing toward the Nitto brand name.
MICHELIN PILOT SPORT ALL SEASON 4
To showcase the sport performance of the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, the checkered flag design is featured near the logo alongside its signature velvet lettering.
WINTER TIRE SIDEWALL DESIGNS
Winter tires are meant for the harshest winter conditions: snow, ice, slush and freezing temperatures. In addition to M+S lettering or the three-peak mountain/snowflake logo which denote safety in grueling winter conditions, the following add some unique sidewall designs to remind you just how strong these tires are in their element.
GT RADIAL ICEPRO 3
To proudly display its confidence in winter weather, the GT Radial IcePro 3 displays a snowflake and icicle design that is uniform throughout the tire.
YOKOHAMA ICEGUARD IG53
Highlighting its durability and tread life, the Yokohama IceGuard IG53’s sidewall features a unique chevron and arrow design.
BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK WS90
