Quick guide: tire balancing vs. road force balancing
Tire balancing (standard): Corrects weight imbalance in the wheel/tire assembly to reduce vibration. This is the first step when you notice shaking, especially at highway speeds.
Road force balancing: Uses a load-roller to simulate road pressure, measuring tire/wheel uniformity (like radial or lateral variation). It helps diagnose and correct vibrations that standard balancing can’t resolve.
Discount Tire recommends balancing about every 6,000 miles—even if you don’t feel vibration—to maintain a smooth ride. Learn more: Tire balancing
