To this end, our list of services revolves strictly around wheels and tires, but that doesn’t mean that your nearest Discount Tire location doesn’t know of a local shop you can take your vehicle to in case you’re in need of any of the following:
Oil changes
Discount Tire does not and has never offered oil changes, although it’s something that is generally done around the same time as a tire rotation. Tire rotations are recommended every 5,000 - 6,000 miles, which can add up to “every other” oil change for most vehicles that follow an interval of every 3,000 miles. However, many of today’s newer vehicles even suggest an oil change at 5,000 miles or more.
Alignments, brakes and suspension repair
We do not perform nor do we have the capability to provide vehicle alignments, although many of our locations maintain contact with local alignment and auto repair shops for referrals. Learn how misaligned vehicles can affect treadwear here.
Brake and suspension repair or replacement are other services we are frequently asked about that we don’t provide, although our eBay store does offer suspension components for sale online.
Batteries
We do not sell, replace or recycle automotive batteries at any of our locations. Automotive batteries generally last about 2-3 years – about the same as tires. And just like batteries, tire life can vary based on how and where they’re used.
Heavy trucks/machinery
Our locations are not equipped to service, repair or replace the tires on heavy trucks or equipment such as dump trucks, tractor trailers/semi-trucks or OTR (Off The Road) tires.
Motorcycle tires
Discount Tire does not sell motorcycle or dirt bike tires, although some locations will provide air pressure checks. That being said, we’re passionate about all things related to motorsports and are proud sponsors of Monster Energy Supercross.
Tire lettering, stenciling or stickers
Although they can look pretty cool, Discount Tire locations don’t offer any kind of tire lettering, painting, stenciling or sidewall stickers on tires purchased from us at this time.
Tire shine
Some locations may apply tire shine to new tires during installation, but it is not something that we offer in a broad or organized capacity.
Towing service
We do not provide towing services, but have no problem with you having your vehicle towed to our location for tire repair, replacement or consultation either overnight or before or after our business hours, (along with during business hours). Based on the extent of some tire problems, towing is the only solution.
Simply give us a call either before or after you have your vehicle dropped off and we’ll get you taken care of as soon as we have your service instructions.
Tire shaving
Tire shaving is not a service that we offer or endorse, and it may void the warranty and coverage of Certificates purchased with your set of tires.
Bike tires
Discount Tire does not sell or repair bicycle tires of any type.
Sponsorships
While many of our locations sponsor local groups and leagues, this is at the discretion of the store’s manager and is not from the direction of our corporate headquarters. Our corporate sponsorship portfolio currently includes IndyCar, NASCAR, PBR, Supercross and Off-Road Racing.
”Free air checks” does NOT mean air conditioning checks
Lastly, while we advertise and offer “free air checks” on signage in many of our location’s windows, this does not mean vehicle air conditioning or climate control checks, just the air pressure in your tires!
If you are in need of any wheel and tire services, stop by any of our locations today and we'll get you taken care of.
