General Tire Pricing
Tire prices vary widely by size and intended use.
A typical all-season, 15-inch tire size (fits most sedan-size cars) tends to cost about half as much as its 20-inch pickup truck or SUV-sized counterpart. Similarly, more standard all-season tires typically cost less than specialized all-terrain, winter / snow, or performance tires of a similar size.
The following table outlines general costs for various sizes and types of tires.
Wheel Size | All-Season | Winter / Snow | All-Terrain | Performance |
Small (12" - 15" wheels). Typically compact cars, golf carts, etc. | $80 – $150 (average cost per tire) | $100 – $150 (average cost per tire) | – | – |
Medium (16" - 20" wheels). Typically fit crossovers, SUVs, small trucks, and vans. | $100 – $250 (average cost per tire) | $200 – $400 (average cost per tire) | $150 – $250 (average cost per tire) | $100 – $750 (varies greatly) |
Large (18" - 26"). Primarily trucks, all-terrain, utility, and performance vehicles. | $140 – $170 (average cost per tire) | – | $200 – $500 (average cost per tire) | $200 – $1000 |
Despite the wide range of averages and estimations included above, there are many factors that go into the final cost of a set of tires.
