WHAT TRIM IS MY CAR?

Trim refers to a specific name-based options package; vehicles are manufactured and sold according to the quality of the options package. Some examples you might be familiar with include: DX, EX, ECO, FX, GT, Hybrid, LX, LTD, Pro, S, ST, STD, SVT, and Sport, as well as other numerical or single-letter additions to a vehicle's model name.

Sometimes people refer to your vehicle’s trim as your “tire trim” but tires are often dependent upon the vehicle trim.

Your trim has a lot to do with what tire or wheel size your vehicle needs. Year, make, model and trim levels vary significantly in the wheels and tires used.

Finding the trim of your car is pretty easy: they are generally displayed as a sticker or as raised chrome lettering or badges on the tailgate or trunk.

You can also find your vehicle’s trim and tire size by VIN (vehicle identification number). You can then use a VIN decoder tool to find the trim level of your vehicle.

WHAT IS MY VEHICLE ASSEMBLY?

Your vehicle assembly measurement gives the exact measurements of the wheel and tire assembly straight from the factory. There often needs to be a distinction between tire and wheel sizes because of the demand for different wheel designs and sizes.

Generally, this information is most specific when it comes to your tire size; section width, aspect ratio and wheel size.

If you don’t know your tire size, you can just read the sidewall of your current tires. It’s suggested that you snap a photo or write it down somewhere safe. You can also find the sizing on your vehicle’s door placard, which is a sticker that’s typically located inside the driver’s door.

You can compare the numbers from the manufacturer’s vehicle placard with the current tires. If you aren’t the original vehicle owner, this is a good way of checking if previous owners changed the tire size.
