Some of my lug nut cap covers were breaking when the tech was removing then. I told them to replace whatever was needed. They then sold me lug nuts that I didn’t need, instead of the lug nut cap covers that were breaking.

First, the salesman tacked on an additional warranty without any consent from me. Frustrating to have him refund me the cost after I noticed it while waiting. Second, they ruined a lugnut and tried to tell me that I needed to replace the stud. Inspecting the nut, it is clear that they cross-threaded the nut. And then ripped the cap of the nut. Both are indications of improper use of an air wrench. On my previous visit to discount tire (different vehicle, a few months ago), they ruined multiple lugnuts and then told me it was because they are cheap lugnuts. Funny...the nuts are 20 years old and were just fine until Discount Tire touched them. When I inspected each one, it is obvious that the mechanic only had the impact wrench partially on the nut. I have 3 different Jeeps with the same capped lugnuts and never damaged the lugnuts when changing tires myself or when serviced my previous tire shop. I thought maybe I just got the new guy, so I let it slide. Now that it has happened a second time, it seems this is a shop-wide problem. I will not buy tires (for any of our family's 7 vehicles) at Discount Tire again. I will return to my previous tire shop.
