Toyo Proxes R888R

Faster lap times and better performance are yours for the taking with the Toyo Proxes R888R.

Toyo Proxes R888R DOT Competition Tires Features

Built on the winning legacy of the Proxes R888, the R888R lays down all-out traction and highly responsive steering inputs. If your number-one goal is to be #1, one of the best upgrades you can make is outfitting your ride with the Toyo R888R. But don’t be surprised if your competition makes the swap just keep up.

With its DOT-approved tread pattern, the Proxes R888R is the perfect tire to get you to the track and back, especially so you don’t have to spend time and money on equipment or trailers.

Featuring Toyo’s aggressive R-compound, a proprietary high-grip racing rubber compound, the Toyo R888R rapidly reaches and maintains optimal operating temperatures for consistent and excellent performance at speed. For those curious, Toyo recommends an operating heat range of 160 – 220-degrees fahrenheit for optimal performance.

Not only does the R-compound of the Proxes R888R help you quickly put heat into it (thus minimizing unnecessary wear), it also creates serious lateral grip for extreme cornering performance. And its asymmetric tread pattern and race-focused contact patch put more rubber on its outside shoulder for the snappy and predictable steering input you need when you’re door-to-door.

Other performance features of the Proxes R888R include:

  • A wide center rib that enhances straight-line stability and overall steering response for excellent dry performance.

  • Massive outside tread blocks generate powerful lateral grip for responsive cornering.

  • Competent control in wet conditions provided by its water evacuation channel, which enhances wet traction and mitigates hydroplaning.

  • A nylon reinforcement ply ensures stability at high speeds for consistent control at passing speed.

Toyo Proxes R888R Treadwear and Warranty

With its optimized tread design and soft tread compound, you can rely on the Toyo R888R for predictable handling and thrilling performance at the track. And because it’s DOT-approved, you can also count on your new Toyo tires for reliable transportation to and from the track so that you’re always ready to rock.

But if you want protection that performs to the standard of your R888R tires, consider our exclusive Certificates. They’ll cover your new competition tires from our store to the track and anywhere in between.

And we’ll set you up with a brand new replacement if your R888R tires are damaged in any way we can’t repair.

(You can add our Certificate coverage in the cart of your order.)

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a professional racecar driver, you're sure to get faster lap times and better dry handling when your vehicle rolls on a set of Toyo Proxes R888R tires.

They are okay when they are cold and warm, but when they heat up after about 3 laps on track, they get greasy and snap oversteer becomes your enemy to quick lap times. Ancient design that needs to be discontinued or upgraded.

For high horsepower (500 + at flywheel) rear wheel drive focused cars the Toyo R888R can be a revelation. I replaced Michelin Pilot Super Sport with R888R on my 2016 Corvette Z06 coupe (3400 pounds with gasoline in tank with 650/650 horsepower/torque - 8-speed torque converter automatic). The Z06 is a completely different car to drive with throttle input now - no wheel spin and typically near 100 % grip on take-off from stop, while shifting gears, and while cornering. Highly Recommended!

Tires are great! When I took my car in for new tires at the America's Tire in Cathedral City, CA the tech told me my lug nuts had expanded and would need to be replaced with locking lug nuts for an additional $67. He came out to the waiting room with a wheel wrench and one lug nut and feebly tried to show me how the wrench wouldn't fit over the nuts anymore. I'm a car guy and told him I had never heard of this happening before. He assured me that my lug nuts are made out of aluminum and the heat makes them expand. I fell for the scam and stupidly bought the locking lug nuts. I kick myself every time I think about how dumb I was. And I should have asked for my original lug nuts back. So, the tires are great but the service I got from America's Tire was not great. I'll never go back to that location again and will think twice before I buy tires from America's Tire. I have bought tires from you since the early 90's so I'm a long-time customer.
