Highlander
I usually get Defenders, for almost 10 years. Finally decided they were too soft for my Highlander as the car would roll because of the soft sidewalls. It’s a trade for noise vs stability and response. For me, the slight increase in noise was small compared to the huge gain in stability and response on the road. My ride feels great and I feel much more confident. They are also snow peak rated, defenders were not.
Outback
I was hesitant because of the noise comments I have read, but these are as quiet as I think really possible. Road surface matters, so take that FWIW. They handle great in rain and standing water, and seem to have done very nicely with the slush we encountered on a trip. I believe I have found my new tire brand.
Crosstrek
Great tires. Perform great on city, highway, and forest roads.
Element
Great tire, a little more road noise, but nothing my stereo won’t fix. They felt great on 30 miles of bad forest service roads. Gravel and terrible potholes and they just ate them up. Running them on a Honda Element and didn’t feel like they were going to leave me stranded. I would recommend these Finnish tires for anyone looking for a good all season, mixed use option.
